Enhancing Quality and Inclusive Primary Education in Tea Garden and Haor Areas
Empowering Children Through Quality Education, Inclusion and Community Participation
About the Project
The EQUIP (Enhancing Quality and Inclusive Primary Education) Project is a community-centered educational initiative implemented by Prochesta, with support from Childaid Network, Germany. The project aims to improve the quality, accessibility, and inclusiveness of primary education for children living in the Tea Garden and Haor communities of Bahubal Upazila, Habiganj District, Bangladesh.
Working across nine primary schools — six in Tea Garden communities and three in Haor areas — EQUIP addresses the educational challenges faced by children, particularly those from disadvantaged and underserved communities. The project brings together students, teachers, parents, school management committees, community leaders, and local stakeholders to create a supportive learning environment where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.

Our Vision
We envision a future where every child, regardless of gender, background, or geographical location, has equal access to quality primary education in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.
Our goal is to empower children to complete their primary education, develop essential life skills, build confidence, and become active contributors to their communities.
Our Goal
To ensure that children in Tea Garden and Haor communities have access to quality, inclusive primary education, targeting at least 80% completion of primary education by the end of the project period.

Key Areas of Intervention
1. Strengthening Teacher Capacity
We support teachers through professional development, training, and improved teaching methodologies. Our focus is on making classroom learning more effective, interactive, child-friendly, and inclusive.
2. Improving School and Learning Environments
We work to create safe, attractive, and child-friendly learning spaces by improving classroom environments, providing teaching-learning materials, promoting joyful learning, and supporting water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) facilities.
3. Promoting Children’s Health and Well-being
Children’s health is essential to effective learning. The project supports routine health check-ups, minor medical assistance, and eye screenings to identify vision-related problems that may affect children’s classroom participation and academic performance.
4. Developing Children’s Leadership and Life Skills
Through leadership clubs, reading activities, debates, sports, and cultural programmes, children are encouraged to develop confidence, communication, teamwork, creativity, and leadership skills.
5. Promoting Gender Equality and Child Protection
EQUIP promotes equal opportunities for girls and boys in education and extracurricular activities. Special attention is given to strengthening girls’ confidence, leadership, participation, and educational continuity, alongside awareness of child rights and protection.
6. Engaging Parents and Communities
We believe education becomes sustainable when families and communities actively participate. The project strengthens parental awareness and community involvement to encourage greater responsibility for children’s education and development.
7. Strengthening School Governance and Accountability
We work with School Management Committees (SMCs), Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs), and Child Protection Committees (CPCs) to improve school management, accountability, child protection, and community ownership.
8. Advocacy and Stakeholder Engagement
The project builds partnerships with education authorities, local government institutions, Tea Garden management, and community leaders to promote long-term commitment and sustainable support for quality education.
