Tuesday, 09 August 2022; The International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples (Adivasi Divas) is celebrated globally on 9 August. It marks the date of the inaugural session of the Working Group on Indigenous Populations in 1982 The United Nations has taken up ‘The Role of Indigenous Women in the Preservation and Transmission of Traditional Knowledge’ as the theme for the year. The Bengali word ‘Adivasi’ (Indigenous Peoples) refers to various tribes living in the Indian subcontinent. Despite several advancements in modern society, indigenous people are often among the poorest ethnic groups. Adivasi Divas seeks to recognize the challenges these people continue to face today, as well as honor their perseverance and struggle for improvement. Like other organizations of the country Prochesta celebrated the day in accordance with ALRD organized by ‘Kubaraz Antopunji Unnayan Sangathon. Detailed report are furnished in the file below.
